Al Masaood Automobiles Attains ISO 22301:2019 and ISO 31000:2018 Certifications for Risk Management and Business Continuity Practices

Wednesday, 01 March 2023

Al Masaood Automobiles, the authorized Nissan, INFINITI, and Renault distributor in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and the Western Region, is Abu Dhabi’s first automotive company to achieve ISO 22301:2019 certificate. In addition, Al Masaood Automobiles also attained the ISO 31000:2018. These certifications highlight the company's commitment to security, resilience, and business continuity, as well as risk management.

The certifications were awarded by Krupa Rahul, Head of Certification - Bureau Veritas, to Al Masaood Automobiles, after fulfilling all stipulated criteria in the areas of effective business operations and management. The International Standard ISO 22301:2019 focuses on security and resilience in Business Continuity Management Systems (BCMS). As a part of the company’s Enterprise Risk Assessment and mid-term strategy, Project Falcon, the Business Continuity Management System is implemented to drive high performance culture and manage risks. Additionally, it is accredited by United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), a well-known accreditation body by British government to assess the competence of organizations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services. It evaluates these conformity assessment bodies and then accredits them where they are found to meet relevant internationally specified standards.

Meanwhile, ISO 31000:2018 provides guidelines for companies to manage risk. The Risk Management System and Business Continuity Management System are integral components of Al Masaood Automobiles' Integrated Management System, which assists the company in providing critical services or business processes in the event of an operational, financial, legal, or reputational disruption. Al Masaood Automobiles is better prepared to recover and resume normal business operations following the occurrence of any uncertainty by obtaining these certifications.

Irfan Tansel, Chief Executive Officer of Al Masaood Automobiles, said: “Across all industries, no company is ever immune to risks, however only the ones who stay prepared and implement systems to sustain the business will be able to withstand prevailing headwinds. At Al Masaood Automobiles, we have adopted effective overarching frameworks for security, resilience, and business continuity as well as risk management to safeguard the organization from potential risks. The new ISO accreditations highlights our continued commitment to operating in a safe and optimal way as possible. I truly believe that implementing these international frameworks helps us maintain a distinct business model that is well prepared to face external or internal circumstances, and we are proud to be recognized for our efforts in this domain.”

The ISO 22301:2019 serves as a guide for overall risk management in a company, partially overlapping with information security management and IT management, as well as enhancing protection of assets and critical business functions. The certification also helps a company to attract new customers, by making it easier to demonstrate that it is among the best in the industry.

Meanwhile, the ISO 31000:2018 aims to increase the likelihood of companies to achieve objectives, improve the identification of opportunities and threats. In addition, companies can effectively allocate and use resources for risk treatment. It further helps to better align the risk management with overall business strategy while improving performance and achievement of objectives.
