The IT Department held recently its first-ever focused Mid-Year Review at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi. This event was not just about the past six months, but also about rethinking how IT operates, communicates, and delivers value across the organisation.

We discussed the progress achieved so far while identifying areas that need sharper focus to ensure we finish strong. During the event, IT colleagues were recognised and rewarded for their dedication, achievements, and hard work, reinforcing the contributions that drive IT forward. We also explored how IT can no longer be seen as only a back-office support function but must evolve into a value-adding strategic partner aligned with all teams priorities and ambitions.

Discussions highlighted the cultural and mindset shifts needed for IT to become a high-performance function. Colleagues shared honest perspectives on challenges and collaboration while exploring practical ways to maximise the value IT brings to both internal and external customers. A marketing-inspired session on megatrends gave us insight into the external forces and technological shifts set to shape the next 12 months, equipping us to anticipate change rather than simply react to it.

This Mid-Year Review was not just about looking back or forward, but about positioning IT at the heart of business growth. The conversations and energy in the room showed that we are ready to take on this challenge and continue building stronger partnerships across the business.
