The 2019 Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi
Al Masaood was immensely proud to be a Gold Sponsor and exclusive automotive partner of the 2019 Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi. Hosted for the first time in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, Abu Dhabi welcomed the biggest humanitarian sporting event in the world and the largest single event ever held in the UAE, with over 45,000 spectators in Abu Dhabi, and millions of viewers worldwide.
The 2019 World Games, which was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, was set to be the most unified Special Olympics competition in history, with the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities in every aspect of the event.
Millions of people from all over the world united to witness over 7,000 athletes from more than 170 countries around the world. From an array of different cultures and diverse backgrounds, these sportsmen and women competed alongside each other in a worldwide competition that showcased their sporting abilities, across 24 sports events at various venues across the capital.
The Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi sent a powerful message of willpower and determination that goes beyond sports and competition. Al Masaood’s participation in the games is in keeping with our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) plans and our obligation towards building an inclusive society in the UAE through sports, health, schools and youth engagement.
