OEL-Apix design a bespoke Permit to Work module for Sita UK
15th July, 2010
OEL-Apix have recently designed, developed and delivered a bespoke Permit to Work (PtW) safety training course on behalf of Sita UK, a major UK waste management company. As part of their operations, SITA UK operate 3 Energy from Waste Plants across the UK and were looking to ensure that their Permit to Work procedures, which form a part of their overall Safe System of Work, were up-to-date, fit for purpose and consistent across all 3 sites.
OEL-Apix Consulting was invited to develop the programme, having provided previous training and consultancy services to the company, which involved the creation of Modules for the training of the relevant personnel.
Sita's authorisation of Permit to Work issuers will start with the successful completion of the Permit issuer's module. The prospective issuers will then have to pass an authorisation panel which will then allow them to prepare, issue and cancel safety documentation within Sita's PtW system. These bespoke "Train the Trainer" modules were delivered by OEL-Apix trainers to Sita Regional Safety Managers and safety coaches to enable them to train Permit to Work issuers and PtW acceptors.
