Our History
The Al Masaood family has a long trading tradition as merchants in the Arabian Gulf. From its early years, the Al Masaood has been involved in the commercial development of Abu Dhabi, with the late Ahmed Al Masaood becoming the first president of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and the Group today still maintaining Chamber of Commerce registration number one.
From those early years, the Group has been involved in many key projects in the UAE. For instance Al Masaood assisted John Brown Engineering in selling the first gas turbine in the Middle East to the Abu Dhabi Government. Following this, with the support of the Group, Weir Westgarth constructed the first desalination plant in the UAE. The late Ahmed Al Masaood was instrumental in bringing many well known companies to the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, amongst them Datsun (now known as Nissan), Bridgestone, Fluor Corporation, Volvo Penta, to name but a few.
Since the beginning, the Al Masaood family has been actively involved in the growth of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the outstanding success of the Group is also a reflection of the magnificent achievements of the United Arab Emirates. One of the main strengths of the Group is its commitment to developing a corporate culture that respects the needs, skills and qualities of its 7,000 employees of more than 40 nationalities.
Today, under the guidance of the partners, H.E. Rahma Al Masaood, H.E. Abdulla Al Masaood and H.E. Masaood Ahmed Al Masaood, the Al Masaood Group has achieved remarkable success, broadening its activities to become one of the largest conglomerates in the Middle East with strong international relationships.
